We have received a B♭ clarinet, an advanced model from the YAMAHA Custom CS series. This model was manufactured from 1996 to around 2017.
The CS series, one of two bore shapes for YAMAHA clarinets, has a generally straight bore, allowing the tone to project straight and far when played. Leather pads are harder and more durable than skin pads, so they offer more breath resistance than skin pads, but the more you play, the more they respond to the player's desired tone. They are less susceptible to external factors such as humidity than skin pads and offer excellent durability and airtightness.
We wanted to create an instrument with musical depth. The image was of a sound that resonates in the mouth the moment it's played, deepening the music by two or three stages. The V series' commitment is to the richness of its resonance, further deepening the musical dialogue between player and instrument. The barrel is the second most important part after the mouthpiece, and we shaped it like a pear to allow breath to flow more smoothly. By adopting a unique shape with a concave interior in the bell, exceptional sound projection in the low register is achieved (not available on the CSV A clarinet). The adoption of leather pads, which offer improved airtightness and excellent durability, maximizes the appeal of the V series and produces a richer sound. --------------------------------------------------------------------
