Fender Japan JBR-80M has arrived.
This is a Fender Japan JBR-80M manufactured around 1989-1990. Unlike a typical Jazz Bass, it is an ambitious model equipped with an active circuit, making it a rare instrument with limited availability today.
The body is made of ash, and the neck and fingerboard are made of maple. It features the good attack and clear bass characteristic of ash, and the unique attack of a maple fingerboard.
Equipped with two active JB-type pickups, it achieves powerful output and a wide range that differs from passive Jazz Basses. It supports modern bass sounds, as well as slap and fingerstyle playing.
The controls include Volume, Balancer, Bass, and Treble. This allows for active sound shaping at your fingertips, proving highly practical for live performances and recordings.
Weighing 4.23kg, it has a well-balanced feel, offering a core sound and rich sustain characteristic of an ash body.
This instrument has undergone maintenance such as fret leveling, but there are some positions on the 1st and 2nd strings where buzzing is noticeable. This may not be a concern depending on your playing style, but please be aware of it in advance.
Cosmetically, there is paint damage on the back of the neck and a crack near the jack plate. While there are signs of use commensurate with its age, it plays well and offers plenty of charm as a Japan Vintage instrument.
