Bach Strad trombones roughly come in two types: the 42 model and the 36 model. The 42 model has a large bore and a wider slide compared to the 36. While it requires more air, it produces a rich and dynamic sound.
This particular instrument is equipped with an optional lightweight slide.
Unlike standard slides made of yellow brass, this one is made of nickel silver. This reduces weight and the harder material improves playability, making fast passages easier.
This large bore tenor bass trombone boasts an unshakeable reputation as the standard for orchestral players worldwide. Its 13.90 mm large bore slide and rich, projecting 8-1/2 inch hand-hammered one-piece bell produce a warm, powerful tone with a wide dynamic range. The F attachment features a traditional wrap rotary valve, which offers comfortable resistance and a dense, focused sound.
The traditional wrap compacts the layout of the F attachment and has been used traditionally for a long time. Since the F tubing is securely integrated into the main body, it provides comfortable resistance and a sense of security when playing pianissimo.
The rotary valve, invented by Friedrich Blühmel of Germany, is a valve system with a long tradition, having been used for 180 years. It changes the path of the tubing by rotating the axis of a cylindrical cylinder. It offers the advantages of comfortable resistance and smooth legato connections, and is widely used not only in trombone F attachments but also in horn and tuba valves.
