The YAMAHA SX800A has arrived.

This is a bizarre model produced from around 1974 to 1978, strongly showcasing YAMAHA's unique originality. While it stands apart from mass-produced standard styles, it also feels like a highly complete instrument that doesn't simply rely on eccentricity.

The sharp and three-dimensional body lines, reminiscent of an SG, reflect the advanced design sensibility characteristic of 70s YAMAHA. Despite its distinctive shape, it is well-balanced and designed to fit naturally to the body when held. Its individuality, combined with thoughtful practicality, shows the brand's true character.

The brown color has a calm,渋 (shibusa - understated coolness), while the wood grain that emerges depending on the angle of light is impressive. Rather than being outwardly flashy, its appearance grows more appealing the more you look at it, exuding a sophisticated presence.

Another attractive feature is the luxurious construction of a maple + mahogany body, mahogany neck, and ebony fingerboard. The quick attack, solid mid-low range, and tight response characteristic of ebony combine to produce a clear, rich sound in clean tones, and a sticky, powerful tone when overdriven.

The natural sustain and smooth connection of resonance provided by the set-neck construction are also pleasant, making this model not only visually unique but also a highly complete guitar. The frets have plenty of life left, and the playing condition is excellent.

Although the paint has been stripped and refinished by the previous owner, it has a cohesive current aesthetic, making it a playable instrument that can be used without hesitation. There are no playability issues, making it highly recommended for those who prioritize practicality.
